Official site of Champion Sports Advantage featuring our Director of Athlete Development Garrett J. Krug, who is a strength trainer and figure skating instructor. He has worked with numerous athletes of all levels ranging from Beginner to Junior National and National Competitors. Garrett utilizes his own training experience in competitive figure skating and strength training as well as his education to provide athletes with the necessary components to become more complete athletes necessary to better achieve their on-ice skating skills.

June 28 - Dynamic Warm-Up Program

We have just added a dynamic warm-up program that our athletes are utilizing this summer before getting on the ice to train for the day to our website along with a short demonstration of the dynamic warm-up that you can find on our youtube channel. Make sure to register for our newsletter for other special inserts and information that will be added in the coming months.

 
 

The warm-up is one of the most important parts of any training program since it helps to increase one’s core body temperature, improve movement patterns, increase proprioceptive awareness, increase dynamic flexibility, improve muscle elasticity and increase mental preparedness for activity.  Besides these benefits, a proper warm-up will decrease the likelihood of injury and maximize performance capabilities. While the cool-down is just as important as the warm-up, it is a great time to reduce heart rate, potentially decrease muscle soreness from the day’s training and increase one's flexibility. For more information about proper warm-up, you can also find one of our previous articles, “Is it really that Important to Warm-Up?"

 

June 20 - June Video of Month

The June Video of the Month highlights some of the amazing feats accomplished by the athlete's in the training room as many of them prepared for their summer competitions.
