Rationale Behind Utilization of Forward Sled Drag

This is an excellent exercise to develop and improve upon an one’s conditioning level (general physical preparedness) that is so necessary for higher-level athletes. By increasing general physical preparedness, the amount of work the body can handle increases allowing that athlete to perform better.

This exercise may be done through various means, most commonly for either a set time or distance. The athlete would perform this exercise with a particular load until the time or distance has been accomplished. As the level of difficulty decreases, the athlete can either alter the time or distance as well as the load being used to increase difficulty.
