Rationale Behind Utilization of the Med-Ball Backwards Toss:

The Med-Ball Backwards Toss is an excellent exercise to teach lower body explosiveness to an athlete. When attempting this exercise, the athlete must learn to dynamically triple-extend their legs as the arms follow through with the med-ball as it is released once the hips are fully extend. By learning proper triple extension, the athlete will be better prepared to demonstrate their jumping efficiency on the ice as well.
