Rationale Behind Utilization of the Front Box Squat:

The Front Box Squat is another great variation of the Box Squat that requires a great deal of strength not only in the legs, but also in the upper back and arms to keep the bar across one’s shoulders. Generally, an athlete does not start front box squatting until they have adequate technique on their Box Squat. One advantage of the Front Box Squat is that it places a greater load on the upper back and quadriceps than the traditional squat. However, an athlete must have strong wrists and the mental toughness to keep their elbows up so the bar does not go forward. If an athletes struggles with keeping their elbows up due to a lack of strength or flexibility, you can try wrist straps to hold onto bar.
