Rationale Behind Utilization of the Box Squat+Vertical Jump:

Many athletes struggle with body position when dropping into a jump; whether it is knees falling in, upper body forward, not dropping lower enough or pushing the hips back to sit down. Because of this, the Box Squat+Vertical Jump is an excellent exercise to learn how to properly drop into a take-off in preparation of jumping. For this exercise, it teaches the athlete how to sit back into the hips in order to properly load the lower body to jump into the air more explosively. Generally once an athlete can master this exercise they produce better results in the basic vertical jump as well as any box jump variations.
