Rationale Behind Utilization of the Zercher Box Squat:
Once an athlete successfully learns a Box Squat, the Zercher Box Squat is a great addition to any program. It is another variation of the box squat that requires a great deal of upper body and core strength to keep the bar close to the body to prevent the athlete from falling forward. Therefore the athlete must learn to activate their upper back by keeping their shoulder blades squeezed together to be able to maintain an upright position. Besides this, the Zercher Box Squat is a great exercise for also developing lower body strength and mental toughness.
