Rationale Behind Utilization of the :

The Depth Jump+Box Jump is an excellent exercise to learn how to properly absorb one’s landing forces and then quickly transfer those forces back up into the air. For this exercise to work properly the athlete must learn to landing in a correct landing position in order to efficiently jump back up into the air for maximum height. For these reasons, it makes this exercise very similar to a combination jump due to the requirements placed on the central nervous system in order to transfer the energy from the landing to the take-off next the jump. One side not with this exercise, is that it is imperative when doing this exercise not to use too high of a box to step off since this diminishes the efficiency of the athlete to jump onto the other box.
