Information About Conditioning Classes
The Conditioning Class is a supplemental class offered outside the Strength Training Classes for any athlete looking to improve upon their General Physical Preparedness (total work capacity). The purpose of this call to to increase not only each athlete level of conditioning, but also their strength and mental toughness. Many of the athletes, who have participated in this calss have found it to assist them in helping them get through their skating program more efficiently as well as being able to add more difficult skating skills to the end of their skating program, a plus in the current International Judging System.

In class athletes will perform various exercises in a series or circuit, in which they are strung together for a particular duration of time, distance or required number of reps. These conditioning complexes will push them both physically and mentally. An example of a sample Conditioning Circuit in which the athlete does one exercise followed by the next would be as follows:
1A. |
Forward/Backward Sled Drag |
40 yds @ 115 lbs |
1B. |
Farmers Walk |
40 yds @ 45 lbs |
1C. |
Sled Push |
40 yds @ 70 lbs |
1D. |
Forward/Backward Sled Drag |
40 yds @ 115 lbs |
For a skater to complete this complex, it requires a great deal of strength and endurance to complete in a set time based upon their first set in which thereafter, they will try to lower their time by five seconds or better. |
