Heart Rate Testing is an excellent way to evaluate a skater's physical conditioning, arrangement of skating elements within a program for maximum performance, mental readiness and anxiety level during a program. Testing begins by comparing a program with single jumps to one with double and/or triple jumps. Besides a comparison of singles to doubles, various other scenarios of testing can be utilized such as exhibition and competition. All of these can assist in explaining the pressures placed on the skater's body, physically and mentally, during the performance of their skating program.
This is documented through various printouts, including a comparison between programs, in respect to technical elements, overall program review, log of heart rate, assessment of the heart rate during testing, and other points of interest. It is recommended the skater be retested every 8 to 12 weeks following the intial evaluation. |
