Strength Training Home Programs
An Independent Home Program is a great option as well as a convenient way for any parent who cannot get their skater to the desired number of Strength and Conditioning Classes, or that do not have one offered at or near their ice training facility. For those who are currently attending Strength and Conditioning Classes, an Independent Home Program is an option to add more training days to the skating week. This allows the skaters and parents the luxury of not having to spend every evening at the rink as well as at the gym and still have the much-needed flexibility as to when extra training days are utilized. For those without a Strength Training Program, an Independent Home Program is an excellent way for a skater to enhance their athletic development necessary for figure skating.
Each Independent Home Program is set-up to last for one hour per training session (A two day program would require two days per week of doing strength training exercises on your own). Just like group classes, the Independent Home Program is structured to the skater's individualized needs beginning with a warm-up, then progressing to the strength training section and finally ending with a combination of speed/agility/quickness, balance and/or flexibility work.
